Matcha Green Tea Smoothie Recipe

*this post contains affiliate links

I've shared my Super Smoothie Recipe before, but I want to share another smoothie that I make that is an absolute treat.

The first time I ever tried a matcha green tea smoothie was at my previous gym and I was immediately hooked. Match green tea powder is full of antioxidants and it's an energy booster. It also gives me a feeling of brain clarity when I feel like I'm in a fog. Because I knew the matcha powder the gym used had added sugars, and I didn't want to have to spend $5 a day on smoothies I decided to look into making my own. Here is the recipe I came up with:

2 Frozen Bananas
1/4 - 1/2 cup almond milk

Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.

The amount of almond milk you use depends on the consistency you want. You can use less, and get almost a matcha green tea banana ice cream, or use more to get a regular smoothie consistency. I would start with 1/4 cup and add little by little from there. Usually about a half cup is good. I use PLAIN almond milk for this. The bananas make it perfectly sweet, vanilla almond milk would make it too sweet for my liking.

There you have it. A simple, delicious and very healthy smoothie treat!

What's your favorite kind of smoothie?

Best #coldselfies

I don't know if you've heard, but it is COLD in the Northeast. Despite it being 61 degrees when I woke up yesterday, today when I walked the dog it was 4 degrees. It is certainly BUNDLE UP weather. The cold is eye watering, nose running, biting, cold.

As I was scrolling Instagram this morning I was loving all the #coldselfies people were posting, showing they were adequately layered for the weather. Here are four of my favorites:

The only thing you really want exposed in this weather, because you have to see, is your eyes. Armelle (armfrank) and Rich (rbird152) are employing excellent cover almost all of your face technique. Just because it's cold doesn't mean the sun isn't out. James (jimmycreates) is protecting his eyes from the winter sun, while staying stylishly warm. Last but not least and technically not a selfie, Ailani, dressed by her mom Lisha (lmo3k), is the cutest little bundle of warmth I've seen today.

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Birthday Wishes - The Big 28

Christmas is not about presents, but Birthdays are! lol. I am 10 days away from my 28th birthday and I am very excited. I don't feel any dread about getting older. I love it. I love gaining more life with each year. More memories, more accomplishments, it's great. There is no point in lamenting over aging. We start aging as soon as we're born. Embrace it!

Here's what I've got my eye on for this upcoming birthday:

1. Inspirational Arm Candies set from Royal Couture Inc - $24.99
I always admire women who can pull off the mixed-match bracelet look so effortlessly. I just don't know how to combine my bracelets effectively, so I figured a set of already matched bracelets would do the trick.

2.  Clairsonic Mia Skin Cleansing System from Sephora - $125
I got my grandmother a different brand but similar face cleansing brush for Christmas and immediately wondered why I didn't get one from myself as well. All the reviews I've read say the Clairsonic does wonders for clearing the skin and evening out the complexion.

3. Rachael Ray Stoneware 3-pc. Bubble & Brown Baker Set: - $89.95
I buy a lot of those disposable aluminum baking tins from the grocery store. For the sake of the environment and my bank account, I think it's time I upgrade to some presentable baking dishes. These are great because they look nice enough to serve in as well as bake in.

4. Doctor Who TARDIS Tea Infuser from Think Geek - $19.99
Hubs and I love Doctor Who. We plan on having a Doctor Who themed nursery. We have Doctor Who themed Christmas ornaments. The more Doctor Who, the better. I recently received my first tin of loose tea and have been slacking on getting a tea infuser. Mine as well make it a Doctor Who Tardis tea infuser!

5. Capricorn print by Precious Henshaw - $16
Precious is a blogger and "maker" with a shop on Etsy. As she was creating her zodiac series I patiently waited for her Capricorn print to come out and I was not disappointed. She has prints for every sign, check her out!

Bring on the Winter TV!

Since the week before Christmas up to now there has been a serious lag in TV programs. Most shows have taken breaks during the holidays or are just coming back for their winter seasons. Here are the shows I'm looking forward to returning the most:
Psych | USA | Premiere: 1/8/14

I find this show to be wildly funny. Psych is a detective style comedy-drama and has filled the void I felt for the genre after Monk was cancelled. Last month they had a Psych the Musical special. I love musicals and I love Psych so this was a match made in heaven for me lol. This is supposed to be the last season, but I'm hoping USA signs on for more.

Shameless | Showtime | Premiere: 1/12/14

This series made my "What I'm Watching" post last winter, and I'm still hooked, for good reason. I can't get enough of this dysfunctional yet highly resourceful family. I am so invested in the characters and story-lines.

The Walking Dead | AMC | Premiere: 2/9/14

Everyone's favorite zombie series. I found myself losing interest a bit in the beginning of the recent season, but by the mid-season finale I got my zombie legs back. I also love the Twitter chatter that happens while the show is on.

The Americans | FX | Premiere: 2/26/13

It seems like it's been forever since the first season of The Americans ended. The show follows two KGB agents posing as a suburban couple in 1980s America. I love spy shows and this is the ultimate spy show. Not only are the operatives using different covers all the time, even their "real" life as a married couple in suburbia with children is a cover. The suspense is intense as they navigate all their different roles.

Hannibal | NBC | Premiere: 2/28/14

The same story of the Hannibal Lecter films, only played out in a GREAT series. I'm so happy this show got renewed. It was getting bad ratings and it looked like NBC might cancel it for a while. This is a great show, it needs the ratings, give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Bates Motel | A&E | Premiere: 3/3/14

Another movie turned TV show, Bates Motel gives the back-story of Norman Bates and his mom pre-Psycho. The season finale left the audience wondering "Did he, or didn't he?" and I'm ready for the answer!

Orphan Black | BBC America | Premiere: 4/19/14

Orphan Black is a Canadian sci-fi series about several identical women who are revealed to be clones. It has a really great plot. ALL of the women are played by Tatiana Maslany who is an AMAZING actress. She plays each woman in a distinctly different way. She completely transforms herself for each character.

Scandal | ABC | Premier 2/27/14

If you aren't already on the Scandal train, there is nothing I can say to bring you to it now. You've had to see how it takes over Twitter on Thursday nights. I've never had a show stress me out and leave me flabbergasted at the end of every episode like Scandal does.

Honorable Mention (meaning I'll probably watch them, but I haven't been sitting around waiting for them): Girls (HBO), Archer (FX), The Following (FOX).

Note: The only reason Game of Thrones isn't highlighted is because there isn't a season premiere date yet, but you better believe, I'm waiting for it!

What shows are you looking forward to returning or premiering?

2014 Vision Board

Happy New Year!

A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on specific life goals. Making a Vision Board was on my 30 Before 30 List and I figured what better time to make one than coming into a new year. I sat down on New Years eve and grabbed my supplies:

Scissors, tape, and my magazine collection: Parents, Family Circle, and Essence lol

Here is my completed board:

2014 focuses: Spiritual, relationship and physical health, and....BABIES! lol

I've heard from many people that all the things they put on their Vision Board come true, so here's to hoping all these things manifest for me in 2014.

This is actually the second 30 Before 30 item I knocked off in the past couple days. I also satisfied "Try a manicure with pointy nails."

For those of you who don't follow me on Instagram (@nesheaholic) here are some shots from Christmas time.

My Niece

Looking forward to 2014 ::blows kisses::
