Windows 8 - My Official Thoughts

QUICK THOUGHTS:

  • Installation was SUPER simple, no files or programs were lost.
  • Live Tiles are cool.
  • It's nice to interact with a Windows machine in a different way.

WHAT I'M LIKING:
  • Notifications in the People app aggravates both my Twitter and Facebook mentions/messages all in one place. I can also see posts from both Facebook and Twitter at once and interact with them. No more switching between programs!
  • The News app is cool. It pulls articles from a bunch of different news sources. Will be great to read when I'm bored or have been through all the blogs I usually read.
  • Tweetro app is awesome for tweeting.

  • Weather app has nice hourly forecast.

THINGS I DON'T LIKE:
  • The only option for setting up the Messaging app are MSN messenger and Facebook messenger - Lame. I'd love to at least have a Google chat account connection.
  • There is no archive button in the Mail app for us Gmail users.
  • The corners are hot-mapped for various controls. Either I'm just not used to it yet, or it's a little finicky, but I keep clicking the wrong things when I'm trying to click in the corners to do things.
  • Setting things up was a little laborious as I had to completely restart my computer to connect Facebook, and then again to connect Twitter.
  • Shutting down the computer requires one mouse motion, and 3 clicks. Seems to be a bit much. There should be simpler/faster way to shut your computer down.
Has anyone installed Windows 8? How do you like it?

  1. I've actually just read up on this new version for a presentation on tablet os and while I'm sort of impressed with Windows trying to keep up, I don't think I'm impressed to where I want to install the new version. Maybe I need to give it a minute to groe on me.. but as of now, I'm not impressed with the design.

    1. I like it. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a nice change from using Windows the same way for so long.

  2. My friend just bought a new PC in Windows 8 and the first thing he told me is it sucks! He don't really like the new interface of Windows 8. That made me so curious...hope I can also see it for myself. :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. :)

  4. When preparing your design, make sure everything is perfectly aligned before transferring it onto the fabric. For a seamless process, consider using dtf transfers ready to press, which ensures high-quality results. Properly prepped transfers can significantly improve the durability and appearance of your finished product. Always follow the recommended pressing instructions for the best outcome.
