Christmas When You're Not a Kid

I'd consider myself a big kid, especially when it comes to holidays and holiday rituals. Christmas tree decorating, pumpkin carving, Easter egg dying, I love that stuff. Being 25 years old, it's been a long time since I've had a real "kid's Christmas." But I love the season nonetheless.

This has been probably the most unideal holiday season of my life. Having to attend a funeral on Christmas Eve-eve among other things definitely has made it a challenge to keep up the positive composure that I'm accustom to having.  But I have to realize that as an adult, life doesn't always go according to plan, and I'll never have another "kid's Christmas" again, but that doesn't mean Christmas can't still be great. As life changes, our expectations need to change, and that doesn't mean lowering them, but rather, re-imagining them.

This has been both one of the best and worst years, and I'm excited for what 2012 has in store.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you, my lovely blog followers. :-D

  1. That's rough, I am sorry to hear that. =(

In general, Christmas is not nearly as fun once you stop believing in Santa Claus.

That's why I always try to be around my little cousins because it's so cute how excited they get.

  2. I am sorry for your loss.

You will have "kids" Christmas when you have your own kids. That's what I am looking forward to.
But being an adult and not having kids, I just look forward to the food. Yummmy food haha
