The Aftermath of Reckless Eating

I went away this weekend for the Labor Day holiday and had 4 days of reckless eating. I don't regret any of it: hamburgers, fried chicken and waffles, white rice, Sweedish fish, alcohol, mozzarella sticks, beef patties, a bazillion mimosas, french fries. It was all SO delicious, but I’m feeling the repercussions. I can definitely feel the change in my digestion, and I’m having crazy food cravings.

Prior to this I’d been eating pretty clean so I’d weaned my body off of the feeling of NEEDING chocolate or fried food or else I’d go crazy. Not just wanting, but actually feeling like I NEEDED sugars and fried things. Well my friends, I’m back there. The weekend opened up the floodgates and I literally feel like if I don’t have some chocolate cake with chocolate icing, white cheddar popcorn or a starch of some kind I may strangle someone.

What will I do? Suck it up. If I cave in to my cravings I’m just going to keep caving in. It took me a long time to get to the point where I no longer craved “bad” stuff, so I just need to get over the hump again.

I’m pretty proud that I’ve gotten to a point where I can actually feel the difference good foods and bad foods have on my system.

So I’ll just sit here and salivate over pictures of this weekend’s meals. ;-)

  1. Food cravings. Never thought about that. I've never weaned myself off food that are bad for me so I constantly crave things. How did you manage it exactly?

Those pictures look delightful. I've never had fried chicken and waffles, but that picture makes me feel like I need to get onboard

    1. Pretty much ignoring the cravings strengthens my resolve and makes me crave them less. It takes a while, but the body craves what we eat so not allowing myself to cave in has made me crave them less. It is definitely not easy lol

You must have chicken and waffles! This was my first time with REAL chicken and waffles, before I'd only gotten it from IHOP.

P.S.- I need to type up my curry recipe for you.

  4. Oh don't feel guilty. There will come a day where we will leave this earth and fried goodness will no longer be an option to us. Enjoy your treats while you can honey :)

    1. Oh I don't regret anything I ate! There was not one disappointing meal in the whole weekend. NY definitely has a leg up on Philly restaurants.
